No no no...thank YOU

So I have been a terrible blogger. Let me just say that the puppy isn't quite ready to be left to her own devices in the house for very long and it has cut down on my interwebs fun time.

I have a complaint. Sort of a generalized complaint set in motion by a specific occurence that can be applied to pretty much anything. When someone is sent to help you out (whether they volunteered or were sent against their will) and you leave them with a ton of shit left to be done (and by ton of shit left to be done I mean stat orders written five hours ago- notthati'mtalkingaboutanythingspecific) and they happen to get most of it done all the while trying to quickly adjust to an environment that is NOT their own but because of a last minute emergent situation didn't get ALL of the things done that YOU should have gotten done (eventhoughyoudon'tevenreallydoityourself-someonecomesanddoesitforyou) ...for the love of God- don't you dare get pissy with them. Certainly don't slam shit down and drop F-bombs while they are still there trying to help you get started in the morning while you piss and moan about what the physicians did and didn't say or do (eventhoughtheorderstheywroteandthentookawayprobablywouldn'thaveworkedanyway)-
just say "I'm so glad you came to help, thank you so much for getting X, Y and X done...I hope you have a wonderful morning. What? Sure, actually if you could get me some more cans of tube feed that would be great, thank you so much!" And don't look at me like I'm stupid. I get my stat orders done stat...thankyouverymuch.

Aside from that...I am still loving my job. I'm getting more and more comfortable in my role and when to page and when not to page and what to do for what problems and what kind of drugs I want to ask for and what to do about docs that aren't the most accomodating creatures on the planet. I've been lucky enough to be given some pretty hard patients (only a sicko of my nature would say "lucky enough"). I had a trauma admit a few weeks ago that was given to me when two other more experienced nurses were also open for admits. Granted, I think the leadership staff were thinking that that particular admit would be easier and less sad than it was...but I was still grateful for the admit and the trust in my ability that came with it. And plus one to me for thinking (correctly, thankyouverymuch) that the ER report of her blood pressure being just fine sounded a little fishy and going ahead and having some levophed mixed- it totally came in handy.

The puppy is great. She chews on everything. I mean EVERYTHING. No wait...not quite. Everything but her chew toys. So far she prefers shoes and remotes and socks to chew toys. And also plastic...She is out of control. We will be starting puppy school in a few weeks to try and curtail that shit. I had bought her a crate pad when I got the crate so she would have something cushy to sit in besides the hard plastic bottom and sometimes I would come home and notice her sleeping under it...I just thought she was cold. I also thought she was doing really great with the crate training.

Um. No. She has been peeing on her crate pad. So now, she is without the crate pad for the last two nights and she is hating life a little bit. But she's a smart girl, she'll learn.

I bought a bunch of furniture last weekend and it still hasn't been delivered and I am not particularly all about that...I mostly want my tv stand so I can get my great big new tv off the floor. Ha! Seriously though...it's huge. And very HD-riffic. Plus I got a sweet new sound system for a sweet deal at circuit city. Shame it's going out of business...I like the deals they have right about now!

Otherwise...kinda same ol' same ol'. Working when I work. Lounging when I don't. Gym every now and again.

burbling

Quick video of my neice burbling at dinner last night. She is freakin' cute!!

The puppy has been very puppyesque today. She stayed in her crate until about 8, went out side and pottied and then got in bed with me for a few hours. After that she was running all over the house like a mad woman. She's starting to figure out that Layla is her name and when I say "Layla!" I mean her.

Monday Morning: Layla kicked some crating ass last night while I had my ass kicked by my patient. Yay Layla!!

I got my new baby puppy doggie last night and she is just precious. We had two hours of crate time so far today and she did really good...even peed and pooped outside (instead of on my carpet like she did last night!) and she is sleeping under my coffee table right now. Last night she slept under my bed- I guess she likes to sleep under things.

very important message

So there are some very important things going on in the world, and I really felt like I should take the time out to say something about them.

First of all...To the writers of tonights episode of Criminal Minds: Way to underuse Cybil Shepherd. Seriously. You have freakin' Cybil Shepherd on your show and all you let her do is sit around being an unloving bad mother and make mean faces. I mean really. Let the woman chew some scenery up or something.

Second: to Michael Weatherly's agent: I would like to date your client. He makes NCIS. If you could set us up on a date that would be great. Thanks!

Third: I will be getting a dog tomorrow. I think. If the dog lady's husband will be home to let me see the puppies.

Fourth: This is the single most important thing I will write about probably all year: They (you know, they) are coming out with Center Stage 2. WITH Peter Gallagher. AND Cooper Neilsen. Peter Gallagher even has a line (and I quote....) "She's just too raw". Seriously. How can this NOT be the GREATEST. MOVIE. EVER. MADE. The original was the peak of movie making at the time of it's release and I just can't forsee a situation in which the sequel would NOT be the greatest movie ever made. There will be dancing. And acting. And acting while dancing. Did I mention Peter Gallagher and Cooper Neilsen?

Highlight of my year. Seriously.

Nothing to say for so long and now two posts in two days!



So today at Target I bought some dog stuff. Nothing major; a collar and some treats and toys but it's a start. I found the most adorable boxer german shepher mix on petfinder.com that I might have to go visit on Saturday. She is a super sweet looking baby girl puppy type dog. Boxers are supposed to be good with kids and very loyal and shepherds are supposed to be good protectors...so she might be a great doggie for me! Hopefully she is still there this weekend and maybe the next time they have an adoption time...$$ you know.



I got my Scentsy order today- I need to actually open the box- I'm sitting here staring at it all excited about the yummy lavender smelling goodness that is sure to be stored inside. Plus leather scent for my car!



I also got a new dvd player...super cheap this time since mine seem to break constantly...and watched Wanted this afternoon and then I'll watch more maybe after Bones and Grey's and Private Practice.

settling

So I know it's only really been about a week and a half that I've been "officially" moved into the house but it has been a ridiculously long week and a half. When I went back to work on Sunday night it felt like I hadn't worked in freakin' forever.

Life has been fairly uneventful...moving in, lounging around, trying to do laundry without a working dryer.

Still no power to the dryer plug. I have called the contractor repeatedly and, shocker here, no show. Cause I'm paying him so much money you know.

Ha.

I have a car full of clothes but I am currently to tired/lazy to get them out of the car. My couch is super comfy.

I have been trying to go to the gym more...I went today and met with my trainer guy Matt and I sweated a lot...it was very sweaty. But good! the problem is I'm not very good about getting to the gym on days I don't do training. The training is going well though, I'm definitly stronger than I was when I started in October...I'm pretty ripped.

Hahahaha!

I got some window coverings finally after sleeping in my house for three days with wide open windows and my Dad helped me hang them up on Saturday so I can no longer be seen by the entire neighborhood. Plus...they're pretty!!! I need to get a few more curtain panels for my bedroom and then stuff for the office and guest bed and bath...but those can come later. I need to get my decorations up and around in the house...maybe tomorrow. I am hella low on motivation. But it's starting to look like a real house. Sooner or later I'll get my dining room table and chairs out of my parents attic.

Then I do my taxes and hope I get that tax credit this year!

I am planning on having a party in March sometime at the house (yay) for all that housewarming business so that will be a good motivation to get stuff set up. I have the next three whole days off so if anyone wants to come visit me...come say hi!!!
